SCIENTOMETRIC DATABASES AND THEIR QUANTITATIVE INDICES
Part IІ. Factors influencing the quantitative indices of scientometric databases

Abstract: The article describes the main factors affecting the value of quantitative indices of scientometric systems. In particular, citation of the work depends on topic of scientific research, structure of the abstract, article language, correct writing of the name and surname of author as well as the name of institution, choice of the journal to publish the results and self-control of citation of scientist’s works. The ranking of scientific journals bases on their registration in scientometric and specialized databases, quality of English-language abstract, language of the full text articles, publication of works of popular authors, open access and volume of subscription. As for the ranking of scientific institutions, for its correctness strict control of the quick presentation of article metadata in electronic form, promotion of literature references arranging according to the international standards, publication of email addresses of the authors for correspondence, encouragement of experienced researchers to publish their articles in bibliometric systems, and establishment of a committee for the integration of national journals into scientometric databases are necessary.
