INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY FOR SIMULATION OF SPATIAL DYNAMICS OF GROUNDWATER
IN NATURALLY COMPLEX GEOLOGICAL ENVIRONMENTS

Information from scientific report at the meeting of Presidium of NAS of Ukraine
March 11, 2015

Abstract:
Glushkov Institute of Cybernetics of NAS of Ukraine in collaboration with Institute of Geological Sciences of NAS of Ukraine are developing an information technology for simulation of spatial processes of water filtration in heterogeneous geological environments. The peculiarities of this technology are mathematical models with discontinuous solutions in three-dimensional formulation and orientation on the use of parallel computing, which allows to solve problems with a large quantity of unknowns. The architecture was developed and basic software modules have been implemented. Developed software is used for solving of the problems of refinement of estimation of groundwater resources for various regions of Ukraine. The multiprocessor computer systems of SCIT family of Glushkov Institute of Cybernetics are used as computing resources.

Keywords: filtration, groundwater, finite element method, discontinuous solutions, numerical modeling, parallel algorithms.
