The article examines the results of Ukraine's 25 years of independence. In particular, the author proposes to look at the recent period of national history as a complex process of implementation of the Ukrainian dreams. He identifies its such components as statehood, democracy and prosperity. The work analyzes Ukraine's progress in each of these components and shows how they have been influenced by global trends. It is also proposed to look at the modern history through the prism of three revolutions (Revolution on Granite, Orange Revolution, Euromaidan) which underline the leading role of the society. The author tells about updating the approaches of specialists of the Institute of History of NAS of Ukraine in the study of modern history.
