PHYCOLOGICAL TREND IN THE ACADEMY OF SCIENCES OF UKRAINE: ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERSONALITIES

The achievements and contribution of the most famous scientists-phycologists of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in the development of the phycological (algological) trend of science over the centuries are generalized. The personal way of professional development, as well as the most important achievements, priority results of the schools of phycology or of their leaders in the study of floristics, taxonomy, hydrobiology, ecology and physiology of algae are shown. Together with chronological and historical information, the field of scientific interests or scientific activity of 12 phycologists of the Academy of Sciences (in particular, one academician and 4 correspondent members (one of “Algology” branch)) is covered. In addition, attention was paid to the founders of certain scientific research centers in Ukraine, creation and further development of schools and scientific ideas of its founders, training of new personnel of phycologists.
