Review of A.G. Zagorodny, O.K. Cheremnykh book “Introduction to plasma physics”

The monograph of A.G. Zagorodny and O.K. Cheremnykh “Introduction to plasma physics” (Naukova Dumka, 2014) outlines the basics of plasma physics, deals with methods of describing plasma and its field of application. Within the framework of the single-particle approximation, the problem of motion of charged particles in electric and magnetic fields, and the problem of keeping them in these fields is analyzed. The problems of balance and flow of plasma are described with the help of magnetohydrodynamic plasma description, and the waves in the plasma and transport processes in it are analyzed. The methods of electrodynamics of continuous media describe the electromagnetic waves in plasma. The kinetic effects in the plasma waves are analyzed. The different approaches to the study of plasma stability are given. The stationary nonlinear waves in plasma and nonlinear wave interaction are reviewed. Modern views on the turbulent processes in plasma are presented.
