PHARMACOLOGY AND PHYSICOCHEMICAL ASPECTS IN THE MECHANISMS OF ACTION OF DRUGS

 Abstract:
Complexation with calcium ions plays an important role in the inotropic cardiac glycosides mechanism of action. Glycon and aglycon are conformated in complexation with metal ions. Glycoside molecule is conformated to stabilize in the cis-position. The ability of cardiac glycosides to form binary and ternary complexes with calcium and phosphatidylcholine reflects their possibility of interaction with lipid components of biological membranes. The calorimetry method was use to establish that the quantity of water molecules influences the thermodynamical characteristics of complexation with biometals cations differently due to the realizations of therapeutic and toxic effects by cardiosteroids.
Keywords: cardiac glycosides, biometals, phosphatidylcholine, complexation, thermodynamic characteristics.
