Historical and local lore notes by V. Vernadsky
The notes of historical and local lore character of the young V. Vernadsky are the result of his trip to the Novomoskovsk District of the Ekaterinoslav Governorate in 1884 and 1885. Unique in their character and content, they are characterized by deep observations. The author presents a broad panorama of Ukrainian people's life, deeply analyzes the processes that took place among specific groups of the population: ethnosocial, psychological, welfare, ethnographic, etc. These notes show the changes in the life of a particular region of Ukraine, the example of which reflects the actual changes in the history of the then Russian-ruled Ukraine.
