The European Maritime Day is an event that is held annually at the end of May under the auspices of the European Council, the European Parliament and the European Commission in the framework of the Integrated Maritime Policy of the EU, launched in 2007. The main objective of this important socio-humanitarian, scientific-organizational and business forum is the desire to attract the attention of all concerned parties to the important role that seas and oceans play in everyday life of not only coastal communities, but also of all EU citizens, as well as stimulating the improvement of the coastal zone management system and sea water areas. This year's EMD conference was first held in the country of the Black Sea Basin - Bulgaria, in the city of Bourgas. We talked about the importance of this event, the enormous economic potential of the Black Sea region and the opportunities that Ukraine opens in this regard, with a member of the EMD Forum, the first deputy chief scientific secretary of the Presidium of NAS of Ukraine, the director of the State Scientific Institution “Center for Problems of Marine Geology, Geoecology and Sedimentary Ore Formation of NAS of Ukraine”, Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences, Corresponding Member of NAS of Ukraine V.O. Emelyanov.
